Family Tree

Identities are necessary constructions, or necessary fictions . . . We need them to operate in the world, to locate ourselves in relation to others and to organize a sense of who we are.” Stuart Hall, 2009:301.
Science states that every living organism has a genetic code. Genes hold information that builds and maintains an organism's cells and passes genetic traits on to offspring. Genes act as a set of instructions that dictate what an organism is going to become; deciding how it looks, how it survives and how it behaves in its environment.
Our genetics predetermine our identities before we are even born, with our ancestors features and traits having fought their way down the family tree to be mixed together to create the person you are. But do you know which ancestors dominate your genetic code?
